dsc1322.jpgThe restoration and preservation of semi-natural grasslands depends on the management –they are not plowed, reseeded, or fertilized, but are either grazed or mowed once or twice a season, depending on the type of grassland.

To encourage farmers' interest in preserving semi-natural grasslands there is a need of innovative approaches to link nature conservation with entrepreneurship.

The Latvian Fund for Nature has developed the brand "Grassland Product" to restore and preserve natural grasslands.

The brand's goal is to ensure that semi-natural grasslands become a part of balanced and sustainable farming:

  • support farming practices that promote nature conservation in rural areas;
  • foster the connection between management and business – the production of various grassland products;
  • educate the society about the role of grassland products within the semi-natural grassland restoration;
  • encourage society to purchase grassland products. 


The brand's graphic identity is the label "Dabisko pļavu produkts" ("Grassland Product").
