Gathering wild plants for tea is an old and popular tradition in the Baltic States, and herbal tea is the first product that people associate with the meadow. Our grandmothers have been picking herbs in the meadow and passing down knowledge about the properties, uses and flavours of meadow plants from generation to generation. And most often, that's how we take our teas - as Grandma instructed us. Today, building on the strong foundations of traditional knowledge, using the inherited skills to extract and preserve the values of meadow plants, it is possible to take meadow herbal teas to a new, modern level. We can look at Latvian meadow tea as a modern, up-to-date product that is taking its place alongside other current trends in the food world, not only in Latvia but also abroad, breaking into the global tea market.

The taste of herbal teas, their aromatherapeutic properties and their beneficial effects on well-being, their ability to strengthen the body and help to cope with ailments - these are well-known values. Teas that come directly from natural meadows offer additional benefits to the user. Herbs from natural meadows will certainly have grown in a clean environment and will not contain pesticide residues. Their taste, scent and colour will be more intense. Perhaps it is the wild romanticism of meadow plants that will appeal to and entice some tea drinkers - because meadow flowers bloom wherever they want.
