degustacija-dabisko-plavu-produkti-2.webpOn September 16th, as part of the Nordic-Baltic LIFE platform meeting at the Radisson SAS Daugava hotel, we presented our brand , the "Grassland Product". A lot has been done since the launch of the brand in January. For now, 31 grassland manager  has received certificate of right to use the label " Grassland Product" for his/her products or services. In collaboration with the 'New Chefs Movement,' we organized tastings of a six-course meal prepared using various natural meadow products – beef, sheep's milk, and honey. The guests loved it!

Taste of the Meadows Day in Liepāja, July 20

22.07.2024

plavas-garsas-diena-liepajas-ezera-plavaas-24.webpOn July 20, the Latvian Fund for Nature and SIA "Rukši" invited to the Taste of the Meadows Day in the meadows of Lake Liepāja. On this day, together with the meadow owner and nature experts, you can get acquainted with the coastal grasslands and their natural values, as well as learn how farming in this type of meadows works. Participants were also offered a Meat Tasting, hosted by Kaspars Jansons, chef of the Meat Chef restaurant, and the opportunity to learn about natural meadow products.

Lake Liepāja and the surrounding meadows are included in the nature reserve "Liepajas Lake" and are a Natura 2000 site of European importance as an important breeding and flyway site for waterbirds. On the eastern shore of the lake there are valuable coastal grasslands with characteristic, brackish-loving plant species. Such grasslands can only be maintained with permanent management, otherwise they are rapidly becoming overgrown with sedges or reeds. Grazing is an indispensable process that creates the habitat structure needed by birds and riparian plant species.
