In spring, the Gauja River valley is enchanted by the scent of bird cherry blossoms, while summer belongs to meadowsweet. Here, by the Līgatne ferry crossing, Dzintra Elberte tends the old homestead “Lieļi,” where in July the meadows turn into a white sea of meadowsweet.
Meadowsweet has long been known as a herb in traditional medicine – it helps calm the mind, improves skin condition, and has a beneficial effect on the nervous system. From the meadowsweet gathered in these fields, a special meadowsweet bath tea is made, allowing you to enjoy the sweet-bitter aroma of the Gauja valley meadows and regain balance after a hectic day.
Stress and the dark winter season are easier to overcome when you can sink into a meadowsweet bath in the evening, creating an atmosphere of peace and well-being and helping the body prepare for restful sleep. Meadowsweet baths are recommended for improving sleep and caring for the skin, giving the feeling that the scent of the meadows has entered your home.
The herbs used in the bath tea are harvested in the biologically certified natural meadows of Gauja National Park, where biodiversity and the healing strength of plants are preserved. In “Lieļi,” the meadows are more than just a landscape – they are a source of peace and inspiration that, through the products created by the hostess, are transformed into sensations, offering people the scent, tranquility, and well-being of the Gauja valley meadows.
Dzintra Elberte's meadowsweet bath tea was created with the support of the European Union co-financed integrated project LIFE-IP LatViaNature.
