ZS "Upmalas" owner Alvis Mikāns and his family have established a farm in the Mežvidi parish of Ludza municipality with the aim of breeding beef cattle. The available land and the desire to preserve natural values determined the direction of farming - extensive cattle farming in long-term pastures. The family breeds crossbreed cattle of various breeds. ZS "Upmalas" is a member of the cooperative society "Latvijas liellops", and the beef produced on the farm can be purchased at the cooperative's online store.
