Meadow Taste Day 2025 in the Sita and Pededze floodplains

On July 5, the third Meadow Taste Day took place in the Sita and Pededze floodplains, organized by the Latvian Nature Fund in collaboration with Jurijs Prokofjevs, owner of Sita Nature Park. We enjoyed an exciting 8 km hike and a meadow bingo game together with Līga Gavari and Baiba Strazdiņa, experts from the Latvian Nature Fund, who outlined the natural meadow ecosystem. Jānis Ķuze gave us a clear insight into the world of wetland birds. Elita Melne demonstrated which meadow plants are medicinal and which can be added to a health drink called oxymel.
Visitors were able to learn about and taste natural meadow products prepared at the event by chef Rūdolfs Šteinbergs - meadow beef and venison dishes, complemented by meadow plant marinades and sauces.
