Participation in the discussion festival "Lampa"

On 5 and 6 July, together with project partners from the Latvian Rural Advisory and Education Centre, we are organising activities at the Lampa Conversation Festival in the Rural Tent.

Over the last decade, Latvia has seen an increase in the number of beef cattle breeds. This has been largely due to the development of the export market. However, only a small proportion of calves remain in Latvia for fattening, and this initiative is based on breeders who want to produce products with added value for themselves and for the Latvian population.

In addition, cattle are the best restorers of natural meadows - they eat the plants at different times, allowing them to flower and sow, and carry the seeds of the plants they eat to different parts of the meadow. A meadow needs cattle!
Productive, profitable beef farming that meets local market demand, while at the same time preserving nature and benefiting the climate? Is this even possible? That's what we'll discuss in this conversation about beef production in Latvia.
