On this day, together with the meadow owner and nature experts, you can get acquainted with the coastal grasslands and their natural values, as well as learn how farming in this type of meadows works. Participants were also offered a Meat Tasting, hosted by Kaspars Jansons, chef of the Meat Chef restaurant, and the opportunity to learn about natural meadow products.

Lake Liepāja and the surrounding meadows are included in the nature reserve "Liepajas Lake" and are a Natura 2000 site of European importance as an important breeding and flyway site for waterbirds. On the eastern shore of the lake there are valuable coastal grasslands with characteristic, brackish-loving plant species. Such grasslands can only be maintained with permanent management, otherwise they are rapidly becoming overgrown with sedges or reeds. Grazing is an indispensable process that creates the habitat structure needed by birds and riparian plant species.
