A catalogue of plant species images Prepared as part of Activity A.8 of the LIFE-IP LatViaNature project: “Development and testing of methods for monitoring the effectiveness of grassland and forest habitat management”. The catalogue forms part of the monitoring guidelines for grassland structure quality and plant species diversity under the “Flowering Meadows” grassland pilot programme. The catalogue includes plant species used as indicators in this pilot programme.
The species are divided into four groups: 1) invasive and expansive broad-leaved species; 2) expansive grass species; 3) species indicative of overgrazing; 4) species characteristic of natural grasslands (including indicator species).
Within each group, the species are organised into five sub-groups according to flower colour and in alphabetical order by genus name in Latvian. The catalogue includes images of plants and their parts (flowers, leaves) and the species name in Latvian. Pictograms indicate the species’ status – invasive or expansive species; species of damp and wet grasslands; species of dry and moderately damp grasslands; indicator species of natural grasslands.
