The common crake, the corncrake, the black-headed bunting, the field lark, the tufted bat, the common pipit, the striped field mouse and more… and more… Let me introduce you: these are all typical inhabitants of the meadow!
The guide “Who Lives in Natural Meadows?” introduces around 180 different meadow inhabitants from five animal groups – invertebrates, birds, amphibians, reptiles and mammals. For each animal, the guide provides its Latvian and scientific names, a brief description of the species’ characteristics and how to distinguish it from similar species, its frequency of occurrence in Latvia and habitats, as well as interesting facts about its lifestyle, diet and reproduction.
This guide will be a brilliant companion on a walk through the meadow and will provide answers to that all-too-frequently asked question: “What sort of insect/bird/animal is that?”, because getting to know the meadow and appreciating its richness is the first step towards preserving it.
