The "Natural Meadow Product" label is the first product labelling scheme to have a direct impact on nature conservation. The label is awarded to businesses that manage natural meadows and permanent grassland and produce related products – meat, honey, herbal teas, dairy products, handicrafts or offer rural tourism services. By choosing a product bearing this label, consumers support the conservation and restoration of natural values, as well as producers who manage natural meadows, whilst also obtaining high-quality products.
The logo’s graphic design – a bright meadow flower embraced by a person with both arms – symbolises the inseparable bond between meadows and humankind, as natural meadows cannot exist without human presence, whilst people can reap and enjoy the benefits provided by natural meadows.
The label is awarded to producers by the Latvian Nature Fund, in accordance with the criteria set out in Conditions for obtaining the right to use the "Natural Meadow Product" label.
The owner of the "Natural Meadow Product" label is Latvian Nature Fund.
The brand was created as part of the LIFE19IPE/LV/000010 LIFE-IP LatViaNature project, with the aim of promoting business initiatives for the sustainable management of natural grasslands.
The project "Optimisation of the Management and Stewardship of Natura 2000 Protected Areas" (LIFE19IPE/LV/000010 LIFE-IP LatViaNature) is being implemented with financial support from the European Union’s LIFE programme and the State Regional Development Agency.
