Natural meadow produce at the Zaube Wild Food Festival

7 September 2024

On 7 September, the Zaube Wild Food Festival welcomed visitors to Zaube Manor Park for the eighth time, so that, together with master chefs, farmers, hunters, anglers, nature enthusiasts and craftspeople, to celebrate the knowledge about nature’s bounty, both passed down through the generations and newly acquired. This year, for the first time, the Latvian Nature Fund also took part, showcasing activities under the “Natural Meadow Product” brand.

Visitors were able to discover the flavours of the meadows by sampling natural meadow products – various sheep’s milk cheeses from “Piena aitas bio”, air-dried beef from “Neganti gardi” and Jānis Vigovskis“ Meadow Flower Honey, as well as learn about the ”Dabisko plavu produkts” brand.

How can I improve plant diversity in my meadow? What plants are characteristic of a natural meadow? Meadow owners and other interested parties put these and other questions to meadow expert Līga Apsēna. Those keen to learn tried their hand at spinning the wheel of fortune and, together with representatives from the Latvian Nature Fund, sought answers to various questions relating to natural meadows.

Similarly, both young and old took the opportunity to view the meadow and its business potential through virtual reality glasses.
