Seminar: “Digital Tools for Beef Producers”

2 September 2024

On 30 August, in Iedzēni, Madona Municipality, in collaboration with “Zemnieku Saeima” and the “Baltic Studies Centre”, we held a seminar entitled “Digital Tools for Beef Producers”.

Seminar participants were able to learn more about the mapping environment and data layers, the benefits and costs of digital solutions, the monitoring of geospatial applications, the use of grassland for cattle fattening, and lesser-known factors affecting beef quality and carcass classification.

To round off the day, we visited Ieva Galiņa’s farm, SIA Lat Angus , where Angus and Highland cattle are reared. The farm has its own abattoir, meat-processing facility and shop, where you can buy beef and processed products from cattle reared on natural pastures. These products are labelled with the “Natural Meadow Product” mark.

The event was organised as part of the “CODECS” and “LatViaNature” projects.
