Seminar: “Online Tools and Direct Sales”

On 5 November, in Sabile, in collaboration with “Zemnieku Saeima” and the “Baltic Studies Centre”, we held a seminar entitled “Online tools and direct sales: insights from the CODECS and DESIRA projects”.

Researchers from the “Baltic Studies Centre” scientific institute shared their insights and research findings on the use of digital tools in the direct sale of beef. Seminar participants had the opportunity to learn more about the most common challenges in this field, based on observations from the CODECS and DESIRA projects. During the event, farmers’ current practices were reviewed and the main barriers to the successful implementation of digital marketing were identified, whilst the benefits of using digital tools, costs and typical ways of acquiring knowledge.

To round off the day, following the discussions, we visited the “Drubazas” farm and learnt about the experiences of the farmer, Ģirts Dzērve, in managing natural meadows in the Abava Valley.  Ģirts’s motto is: a meadow should be seen as a resource. He rears Galoveja cattle and also welcomes tourists to his farm. “Drubazas” beef and tourism services have been awarded the “Natural Meadow Product” label.
