In spring, the ancient valley of the Gauja is enchanted by the scent of early blossoms, whilst summer belongs to the buttercups. Here, by the Līgatne ferry crossing, Dzintra Elberte runs the “Lieļu” traditional farm, where in July the meadows are transformed into a sea of white cornflowers.

Yarrow has long been known as a herb used in folk medicine – it helps to calm the mind, improves the condition of the skin and has a beneficial effect on the nervous system. The valerian harvested from these meadows is used to make valerian bath tea, which allows you to enjoy the sweet, bitter scent of the Gauja Valley meadows and regain your balance after a hectic day.

Stress and the dark winter months are easier to cope with if, in the evening, you can soak in a bath of meadowsweet, which creates an atmosphere of peace and well-being and helps prepare you for a restful night’s sleep. Clover baths are also recommended for improving sleep and skin care, giving you the sensation that the scent of a meadow has entered your home.

The herbs used in the bath teas are harvested from the organically certified natural meadows of Gauja National Park, where biodiversity and the healing power of plants are preserved. The meadows at “Lieļi” are not merely a landscape – they are a source of peace and inspiration, which is transformed into sensory experiences in the products created by the hostess, bringing people the scent, tranquillity and well-being of the Gauja Valley meadows.
