Livestock farming in harmony with natural cycles

With the aim of running their farm in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner, the Ceplīši family has established a certified organic cereal and beef cattle farm in the “Ziemeļgauja” protected landscape area – a unique area along the Gauja River, home to botanically valuable meadows as well as ancient mixed and deciduous forests.

Living and working in such a setting, surrounded by the bounty of nature, brings with it its own conditions and responsibilities.  Tīna and Gunārs accept these with dignity and a sense of responsibility! They have managed to adapt their farming practices to these conditions, whilst developing a business that protects and nurtures the natural heritage of the surrounding area.

On this farm, cattle are able to spend long periods of time grazing – a large proportion of which are ecologically valuable meadows, where the cattle not only help to preserve this unique ecosystem but also enrich their diet with a variety of meadow plants. The animals’ way of life, closely attuned to the rhythms of nature, ensures that the meat has a distinctive quality and flavour.

The farm has also set up a direct meat sales scheme, which allows consumers to buy products directly from the producer, with delivery options available as far as Riga. Customers particularly appreciate the high nutritional value of the meat obtained in this way, its naturalness and flavour, which fully reflect the farm’s philosophy – to live and farm in harmony with the cycles of nature.

To provide customers with even more opportunities to purchase healthy farm produce, the farm also grows vegetables and berries. This allows us to supplement our customers’ menus not only with top-quality beef, but also with organically grown seasonal produce, creating a wholesome and varied diet, straight from the heart of nature!
