At the Virbotņu farm, everything is done from the heart and with genuine care! The hostess, Modra Puisīte (IK Pilnveido sevi), goes about her business with real passion – with a firm hand, wise advice, heart and mind, conjuring up all the delicacies with her own hands. At her farm, you can see the herd of goats, as well as taste and buy goat’s cheese, goat’s milk ice cream and goat meat sausages. The Virbotne goats know their worth – they are both maintainers and restorers of the grasslands, as well as milk-givers! The goat’s cheese is made according to carefully selected recipes – these draw on both Latvia’s ancient traditions and the refined cuisines of Europe.
It is a real pleasure to see how carefully and lovingly Modra tends to the goats, milks them, and then turns the milk into the most delicious products. The farmer uses the goat’s milk to make soft cheese – both classic and flavoured with garlic and parsley – as well as feta, butter, ghee, sweet cream and even ice cream. We definitely recommend trying every product, especially the ice cream! The feta cheese makes for a delicious Greek salad, whilst the fresh cheese, pan-fried and served with honey and walnuts, tastes absolutely brilliant!
The hostess also offers guided tours and product tastings, and there are activities for children too.
