An organically certified farm, the Berka family’s “Kliņģeri” farmstead in Tārgale Parish, Ventspils Municipality, run by Andris and Jana Berki. The family left city life in Ventspils some time ago and moved to the countryside, where they live and farm in harmony with nature. Andris and Jana are delighted that their children have the opportunity to grow up in the countryside with a different attitude towards work and animals. They have been involved in sheep farming for over 10 years, rearing Romanov sheep for both breeding and meat production. The Romanov sheep are reared in accordance with the state-approved Romanov sheep breeding programme, subject to veterinary and zootechnical controls. They are constantly working to improve the quality indicators of their flock.

The sheep, as well as the chickens and ducks, are looked after by the clever and beautiful Australian sheepdogs, which are also family pets.

Jana has set up her own processing workshop, where she produces freeze-dried lamb products – brilliant snacks! She also makes her own meadow herbs there. In 2025, with the help of a small grant, Jana purchased an ice-cream-making machine and expanded her range of meadow products – meadow sorbets are now produced. Meadow clover, cow parsley, wood sorrel and more… – an adventure for your taste buds is guaranteed!
