SIA Laskumi, based in Druviena parish, is an example of the determination and opportunity to start a farming business from scratch, provided there is a strong desire to do so. The farm’s founder and manager, Kristaps Graumanis, is one of the few young farmers in Latvia who, after several years working abroad, has returned to Latvia and, thanks to the EU support programme for young farmers, has started rearing beef cattle. The land is managed across several parishes – Druviena, Ranka, Tirza and Lizums.

Kristaps’ approach to running his farm can be summed up in a few words – meticulous and thorough!

The Laskumi farm specialises in rearing purebred Hereford cattle for sale to other livestock farms and in the production of high-quality beef. They operate organically, placing great emphasis on animal welfare and the quality of feed. In 2018, Gulbene Municipality awarded SIA Laskumi the title of ‘EXCELLENT COMPANY’.

Laskumu cattle are truly beautiful!  Well cared for and cherished, they graze in natural meadows and, like true gourmets, choose meadow plants for their daily sustenance, eating them gradually and thus maintaining the diversity of plant life in the meadows.

SIA Laskumi is a member of the “Latvijas liellops” cooperative. Beef produced on the farm can be purchased from the cooperative’s online shop.
