“Aneta and Ainārs, the owners of ”Pavasari RT„, began rearing beef cattle relatively recently, about five years ago, when they decided to build a life for themselves on the beautiful rural estate ”Pavasaros”, located in Remte parish, Saldus district. Recognising the value of the biodiversity on the property they had purchased, they decided to manage it in a way that would preserve and enhance it. After assessing the conditions and possibilities, the owners opted for an extensive farming model, in which Hereford cattle play a major role in the management of the natural grasslands.

We started out with no experience in beef cattle farming or natural grassland management, but by working with great enthusiasm and dedication, we have now built up a fairly solid knowledge base and established a fine herd of purebred Hereford cattle. Aneta and Ainārs have been involving their children in the farm work from a very young age, to teach them a strong work ethic and a love of nature and the land.

Pavasari RT is a member of the “Latvijas liellops” cooperative. Aneta and Ainārs are actively involved in the cooperative’s activities, with the aim of educating consumers about high-quality, sustainably reared beef as a Latvian speciality and the correct way to prepare such meat.  The farmers“ aim is to run their farm sustainably and in an environmentally friendly manner. ”Pavasari RT“ is a certified organic farm and participates in the Nature Conservation Agency’s ”Flower Meadow” programme, to restore the ecological value of grasslands where it has declined, under the guidance of grassland experts, and to increase the area of high-quality natural grassland.
