Cattle for the Cēsis Meat Processing Plant
An organic farm that rears purebred Hereford cattle. “Kalna Rubeņi” is one of the farms taking part in the GrassLIFE project run by the Latvian Nature Fund. This has provided the opportunity to acquire cows of the Hereford breed – peaceful animals that are not fussy about their feed and act as natural meadow maintainers – as well as to clear new areas of scrub and restore dozens of hectares of overgrown land to more diverse natural habitats, thereby restoring biotopes of European Union importance. The farm has its own meat-processing facility, where it produces beef dumplings, kupātu sausages, smoked and semi-dried sausages, and other high-quality beef products.

The owner of the "Natural Meadow Product" label is Latvian Nature Fund.
The brand was created as part of the LIFE19IPE/LV/000010 LIFE-IP LatViaNature project, with the aim of promoting business initiatives for the sustainable management of natural grasslands.
