Cattle for the Cēsis Meat Processing Plant
Alvis Mikāns, the owner of the “Upmalas” farm, and his family have set up a farm in Mežvidi Parish, Ludza Municipality, with the aim of rearing beef cattle. The land available for farming and the desire to preserve natural values determined the farm’s focus – extensive livestock farming on permanent grassland. The family rears cattle that are crosses of various breeds. ZS “Upmalas” is a member of the “Latvijas liellops” cooperative; beef from cattle reared on the farm can be purchased via the cooperative’s online shop.

The owner of the "Natural Meadow Product" label is Latvian Nature Fund.
The brand was created as part of the LIFE19IPE/LV/000010 LIFE-IP LatViaNature project, with the aim of promoting business initiatives for the sustainable management of natural grasslands.
