Have you longed for a while now to have your very own beehive out in the countryside?
Inese Dimanta runs the «Graudiņi» farm within the Grīņi Nature Reserve and has set up an apiary here for rent!
Anyone interested can hire a beehive and experience the full cycle of beekeeping, producing their own honey. It’s also an opportunity to gain practical knowledge about honey production and learn about the role of pollinators in the ecosystem. An unforgettable adventure that will provide flavours and memories for the whole family!
The rental apiary was set up with funding from a small grant under the Latvian Nature Fund’s “LatViaNature” project.
Here, in the natural meadows of the Grīņi Nature Reserve, is a wonderful place for bees – there are no rapeseed fields in the vicinity, and the woodland meadows boast a rich variety of flower species. “Ģraudiņi” also offers educational tours, workshops and hands-on beekeeping sessions.
Inese has no shortage of initiative and energy. She is also a guide at the Grīņi Nature Reserve; she has discovered many interesting facts about the origins and significance of this place, which she is happy to share with nature tourists. Here you can see night-blooming orchids and common bog myrtle, also known as balsam myrtle, which is one of the ingredients in Riga Black Balsam.
